Wednesday April 6th..

Nice sunny day this morning.  Thought there was a chance maybe exterior signage today...but no (just received the let down by email.)  Oh well....I really don't know why I am so excited about seeing my studio name posted on a building...  Today I am back down at One Bedford in TO.  Finishing up project.  At the studio the Victorian Stained Glass Transom is looking great.  Very excited about the colors!

This  afternoon I am at my silverers to work on some more samples with them...

tonight I have to work on some artwork for clients as I am falling behind on that front....but good news yesterday...I think I have found someone to help me at the studio.  A previous student of mine who is just what I am looking for...I really hope this works out....It would be great!

Hollywood????

Ok..today was a great day...I got so much accomplished and caught up with so many people...everything just clicked...learned some new construction terminology...had a good laugh...even if it was at my own expense...discussed a few amazing projects that are coming up...All good...

Have new product where I am antiquing drawn antique glass in a silvered finish...Looks amazing and seems to really be catching on.."Drawn Antique Mirror."  Now I have three sites that want it, and a glass shop that wants to distribute it...crazy...

No Rest for the Wicked....."yes I am referring to myself..."

Ok...this morning I was at the shop nice and early...did the rebuild of my "well built" inserts.  Actually ended up removing 3/4 of the metal from the panel and started fresh...a lot of work..but I must say it looks better than the original...(because there is no scratch)...Amazing :)  Tomorrow  I am starting at one of my cabinet makers, then off to the electroplaters to drop of 2 door lites and 4 large sash window inserts..(as much as a can safely transport) At 11am I have a meeting with a new client...and then to the shop...This week in shop I am working on a Victorain Entry for a home in Toronto.  Victorian with some flare...crystal clear background with some drawn antique; then ivy  in a Kokomo brown and clear streaky;  then hits of Red Streaky and some blue/grey/green cathedral Bullseye.  I know sounds a little crazy but it is going to be amazing.  The entire project is  based off of a fabric swatch being used in the home.

Other sources of excitement this week is the installation of my exterior signage "Glassworks Studio..." this will deserve a toast..    and I am hoping my custom designed harvest/design table will be delivered....still at the finishers...I am keeping my fingers crossed....I will keep you posted!

Filling up the glass rack....

Today I went to the studio in unpack glass...OK..it is crazy the amount of glass that I have stock piled over the years...and so many pieces that I completely forgot about. So I sit there..wipe the dust off them..admire them...waste my day away...and obviously I did not at all get accomplished what I had to get done.  Today's job was to take a part one of the beautiful inserts I made for a client this week because I noticed a small surface scratch....BUT the issue is I used 5/32 brass reinforced lead came...why? because I have a case and it does look beautiful...never try to take apart a project where you have used reinforced leaded came (the brass bar is inside the lead came..ie....VERY HARD to cut and take apart.  So tomorrow I am just going to build a new one.)  Now thinking about it I should have left it intact and kept it for a showroom sample...I will post  pictures once I  take them of this project...These cabinet inserts are made of Drawn Antique in clear...and a 3/4" pencil bevel that is then bordered by more GNA..Very simplistic but beautiful....Some times the hardest designs to come up with but the best reward!  Tonight I am going to catch up on some reading from my glass master...who keeps sending me notes on how to properly hold my paint brush....needless to say I have a lot of reading to do....maybe soon I will actually finish a glass painting project and get it fired...MAYBE..

Nothing better than shopping for glass!

Today I shopped for some new glass...some glass for upcoming and current clients...but this was really about finding some unique and what we term in the glass industry "curious" glass.  This is glass that is unique "one ofs" that are different because too much color pigment was added or too much stirring of the pot occurred.  Anyway curious pieces are really great finds if you can get them.  AND I GOT THEM...amazing glass with brilliant color combinations. I don't know where I will use it, but some lucky client will enjoy them someday...and not even realize what they have...of maybe they will.   Maybe I will use them for myself.....Anyway I had a great time...

Just in case you don't know...

http://www.glassworksstudio.ca is my site...check it out...Glass Design is a unique way to add to the existing character of your home.  It is a great process from design, build, to installation.

Feels like it should be Friday!

What a crazy couple of weeks...New studio is up and running...not ready for the public yet..as my leaded windows are not done yet...design not finalized yet.  Why is it so difficult  to come up with something for my own space?  I have no issues with client's design and builds. I am going toward one group of eight windows to be done in clear textures with looping bevels that are part of my "infinity" collection.  "No beginning and no end..." complete circle like life...Then i have another area that I am dreaming of something "Moroccan"...great brilliant colors..strong use of black...bevels...hmmm...I still need to get an opening cut into the wall between the studio and the showroom for that piece.  Tomorrow I am off to the States to select some glass sheets...Shopping for glass my favorite thing!
